Project Cargo — NovaLogix
Project Cargo

Oversized Cargo, Engineered End to End

Heavy-lift, oversized and breakbulk movements planned from route survey to installation site.

Overview

Project Cargo

Project cargo is a planning discipline before it is a transport job. A single transformer, reactor vessel or process skid can determine crane selection, trailer configuration, port berth, road permits and the sequence of an entire construction schedule.

NovaLogix manages heavy-lift, oversized and breakbulk movements from the first route survey through port handling to delivery at the installation site, with method statements agreed before equipment is committed.

Project Cargo
The challenge

What Makes This Difficult

Route feasibility

Bridge capacity, overhead clearance and turning radii can invalidate an assumed route late in the process.

Lifting and handling limits

Terminal crane capacity and lifting points determine what is actually possible at each transfer.

Schedule dependency

Project cargo rarely moves alone — a delay cascades into commissioning and contractual milestones.

The NovaLogix solution

Every NovaLogix project movement begins with dimensions, weights, lifting points and centre of gravity. From there we survey the route, confirm handling capability at each transfer point, select equipment against verified figures, secure permits and produce a method statement and schedule that the project team can plan against.

Capabilities

What This Service Covers

Heavy-lift cargo

Movements requiring specialised lifting capability at port and site.

Oversized cargo

Out-of-gauge cargo exceeding standard container or trailer dimensions.

Breakbulk shipments

Non-containerised cargo shipped on conventional and multipurpose vessels.

Industrial equipment

Plant, process units, generators and heavy fabricated assemblies.

Machinery movements

Production machinery relocation, installation delivery and phased dispatch.

Route planning & survey

Physical route survey covering bridges, clearances, turns and access.

Special transportation

Low-bed, extendable, modular and hydraulic axle equipment as required.

Port & terminal handling

Berth selection, lifting arrangements, lashing and stowage supervision.

Permits & escorts

Regulatory permits, escort arrangements and routing approvals.

How it works

A Controlled Sequence,
Every Time

No improvisation, no missing handovers. Each stage is confirmed before the next begins.

01

Cargo data collection

Dimensions, weight, centre of gravity, lifting points and packing are captured and verified.

02

Route survey

The physical route is surveyed and constraints are documented with mitigation options.

03

Method statement

Lifting, securing and transport methodology is agreed with the project team before commitment.

04

Equipment & permits

Vessels, cranes, trailers and permits are secured against the approved method.

05

Execution & supervision

The movement is supervised at each transfer point with progress reported to the project schedule.

06

Site delivery

Cargo is delivered, positioned and handed over in line with site requirements.

Good to know

Questions About Project Cargo

Exact dimensions and weight per piece, centre of gravity, lifting point details, packing description, origin and destination addresses, required delivery window and any site access constraints. Photographs and general arrangement drawings help considerably.

Yes. For oversized road movements a physical route survey is essential and forms the basis of routing, permits and equipment selection.

Sometimes, using open-top or flat-rack equipment where dimensions allow. Where cargo genuinely exceeds those limits, breakbulk on a conventional or multipurpose vessel is the appropriate route.

Considerably more than standard freight. Vessel space for breakbulk, specialised trailers, crane availability and permits all have lead times — early engagement usually reduces total cost as well as risk.
